Chapter 12 When Life Repays You

Disclaimer: This fanfic is not mine, it's from the author I admire most,http://cosmic-celestia.livejournal.com/6612.html. Thanks for this wonderful fanfic. I copied and pasted it here in my blog so it is easier to load on my iPhone, because my iPhone reallly hates WiFi.

Sungmin winced as his side throbbed slightly. His cuts were healing steadily and for the past three days, Kyuhyun had done nothing but take care of him both emotionally and physically. Sungmin felt himself beginning to heal and open up a little more. He felt slightly guilty for being such a burden to his companion. Still, he was glad that he was with Kyuhyun.

He ambled through the apartment and into the light, green kitchen. Kyuhyun, who was sitting at the table, immediately stood up and walked over to him. He tenderly put his arms around his hyung and hugged him. Sungmin loved this. Kyuhyun was so gentle, as if he were afraid of hurting him more than he already had been. His soft touches and careful actions made Sungmin like Kyuhyun even more.

“Good afternoon, hyung,” Kyuhyun smiled. Sungmin’s cheeks turned a faint shade of pink as Kyuhyun kissed the tip of his nose. “I didn’t want to wake you. Sleep heals you faster.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Sungmin asked. Kyuhyun raised an eyebrow.

“Don’t you like me being here, Minnie-ah?” Kyuhyun grinned. Sungmin moved forwards and hugged him tightly around the waist.

“I like you being here! It’s just….I don’t want you to miss work because of me. I’m not worth-” Sungmin was cut off by Kyuhyun placing a finger against his lips. The elder male looked up at his dongsaeng, his eyes opening wider.

“Don’t ever say that. You are worth it, Sungmin,” Kyuhyun murmured. Sungmin felt his face grow warm and he looked away, feeling self conscious.

“Kyu….” Sungmin whispered. In a totally unexpected but explainable move, Kyuhyun leaned down and kissed the cut on Sungmin’s cheek. The injury tingled and Sungmin wondered what the weird, tight, warm feeling was in his chest. Kyuhyun drew back and walked into the kitchen.

“Are you hungry, Minnie-ah?” Kyuhyun asked. Sungmin smiled at the use of the nickname. In the three days that he had been here, he had given and been given a nickname. For some reason, it seemed to come naturally to them both, as if they had somehow known each other before and were just getting reacquainted.

“Just a little bit. When did you get home?” Sungmin asked. He knew Kyuhyun worked from ten to six at the grocery store. He wondered how much trouble Kyuhyun would get into for coming home to take care of him. He sat down at the kitchen table and watched Kyuhyun work.

“About five minutes ago. My break ends at one. We have about an hour,” Kyuhyun replied, taking out instant noodles. Sungmin smiled, one day, he would cook for Kyuhyun. Right now though, Kyuhyun was making sure that all his needs were being met and he was being treated with the utmost compassion.

He picked up his chopsticks as Kyuhyun placed the steaming bowl of noodles in front of him. He began to eat, his appetite coming back slowly. He ate slowly, feeling insecure as Kyuhyun gazed at him deliberately.

“Why are you staring at me?” Sungmin asked, tripping slightly over his words because of that same weird emotion bubbling in his chest.

“Because you’re cute, Minnie-ah,” Kyuhyun replied. He traced Sungmin’s scabbed over cut on his left arm. The touch made electricity shoot down his arm. His heart beat faster and he caught Kyuhyun’s eyes. Something invisible passed between them and Sungmin felt their connection grow stronger. He wondered if Kyuhyun felt it too.

The chopsticks clattered on the floor as Kyuhyun kissed the side of his neck softly. Sungmin released a breath of air. His eyelashes fluttered at the gentle touch. Kyuhyun pulled back and looked at Sungmin. The two of them watched each other, somehow feeling the rapid beating of their hearts in tandem.

“You need new chopsticks,” Kyuhyun murmured, breaking the silence between them. Sungmin blinked and tried to regain his composure.

“You….you can just…wash the old ones,” Sungmin whispered, his breathing slightly uneven. Kyuhyun stood up and got new chopsticks, placing them beside the slightly cool bowl. He pressed his lips to the top of Sungmin’s head.

“I’ll be in the living room. I need to water the plants in there,” Kyuhyun said softly. Sungmin nodded silently. He didn’t trust himself to speak anymore. The emotion running through him had his heart beating wildly and had stolen his words.

Kyuhyun grabbed his watering can and headed to the living room. As he carefully watered the small bonsai tree on the coffee table, he thought about what had happened in the kitchen. The intense caring and love he felt for Sungmin still hadn’t faded.

You can’t think like that, Kyuhyun. He’s still healing and he’s been hurt emotionally and physically. You have to be strong. You have to control yourself. You have to wait for him and you might be waiting forever. Aish….I am such an optimist.

Kyuhyun knew that he cared deeply for his hyung. He knew that at some point, he had crossed the line and now he was in love. Kyuhyun bit his lip as he began to water the small ferns and lilies along the windowsill. He ran his fingertips along the edge of his Calla lily. The smooth, fine texture reminded him of the softness of Sungmin’s skin. He smiled slightly at the thought of his hyung and moved to his hibiscus syriacus, rose of Sharon. He rearranged the blooms and watered the beautiful white flower.

In the kitchen, Sungmin was staring into the bowl of noodles. He didn’t know what he was feeling for Kyuhyun and that scared him. If he liked him, more than he allowed himself to admit, then he might be hurting himself. If Kyuhyun didn’t like him the same way, he was opening himself to disappointment.

But Sungmin couldn’t forget the feelings he got whenever Kyuhyun touched him. He couldn’t forget the way his body reacted to Kyuhyun. He put his hand over his mouth. The same feeling was back and stronger than ever.

What is it that I feel? Kyuhyun, what have you done to me? Why do I want to hug you and kiss you and make you smile? When he touches me, I feel so happy. When he’s concerned, I just want to make him feel better. Aish….what do I do?

Sungmin bit his lip, his expression becoming anxious. He wanted to keep his feelings a secret. What if Kyuhyun hurt him? Sungmin didn’t believe that he would but it was a possibility. He never dreamed that Jiwon would hurt him and yet, he had in the worst ways possible.

And then there was the fact that they were connected by the read thread. Sungmin, despite his doubts before, believed this was true. He had never felt so strongly connected to anyone before. He looked up from his now cold noodles and towards the living room. He stood up and picked up his bowl. He put it in the sink and went to the living room.

Kyuhyun was tending to his plants, a concentrated look on his face as he made sure that each of them were alive and healthy. Sungmin recognized this treatment. It warmed him, seeing Kyuhyun give the same kind of care to everything, treating all equally. The younger male looked up and smiled. There was a spark inside each one as their eyes met. Sungmin blushed and looked away, very aware of his feelings.

“I’ll be a minute and then I’ll sit down with you,” Kyuhyun motioned to the couch. Sungmin nodded and sat down. He watched Kyuhyun cultivate his plants. A warm fuzzy feeling spread through him and he unconsciously licked his lips.

“You take very good care of your plants,” Sungmin observed, gesturing around at the abundance of plant life. Kyuhyun smiled at him and stopped Sungmin’s heart then and there. He breathed in slowly, trying not to become a babbling wreck.

“Thank you, Minnie-ah,” Kyuhyun said, putting down his water can and coming to sit by his hyung. Sungmin leaned his head on Kyuhyun’s shoulder and felt his cheeks warm when he felt the younger male put an arm around him (think of the Suju mini drama where they go out and Min has his head on Kyu's shoulder). He felt Kyuhyun place another gentle kiss to his forehead.

He turned his face up and looked at him. Kyuhyun looked back at him, his eyes soft. Sungmin took this as a good sign. Shyly, he reached up and kissed Kyuhyun on the cheek.

“Thank you, Kyu. Thank you for taking care of me,” Sungmin whispered. Kyuhyun smiled and decided to throw caution to the wind. He bent down and kissed Sungmin on the mouth. The younger one knew that he couldn’t harm Sungmin in any way. He promised himself he would back off before it got too serious. That is, if this went anywhere at all.

Sungmin was having trouble remembering how to function. He had never been so affected by someone like this. It was all he could do to respond. He surrendered to Kyuhyun. Most people would have been afraid of any contact but Sungmin knew within his very soul that Kyuhyun had no evil intention in mind.

Jiwon was rough and unforgiving but Kyuhyun was soft and gentle, his every move caring and cautious, as if he were afraid of breaking him. Sungmin felt touched that Kyuhyun would be so considerate of him.

He gasped softly as Kyuhyun began to place light butterfly kisses along his neck. He bent his head backwards, exposing more of his throat. He closed his eyes as each maddeningly soft touch sent fiery tingles rushing through his body. Kyuhyun tilted Sungmin back carefully and moved his body so that Sungmin wouldn’t feel trapped between him and the couch. Something told him that he had felt cornered one too many times.

He claimed Sungmin’s lips once more, lightly brushing against his mouth. He moved up, kissing Sungmin’s now healing cuts on his face. He took special care to touch each one, letting Sungmin know that he understood he was still recovering.

Sungmin had never felt more loved in his whole life. The tender ministrations of Kyuhyun sent delicate shivers of pleasure flowing through him. It was all so soothing, so loving that Sungmin thought he might cry. His heart was spilling over with emotions he could no longer identify and something grew stronger inside of him. The bond between the two strengthened and the thread that connected their souls snapped tight and remained that way.

The elder male leaned into each gentle touch and Kyuhyun’s hand entwined with his own. He felt Kyuhyun kiss his way down to his jawline and something inside of him tightened. A memory of Jiwon flashed through his mind. He had been hit here so many times that it was now a second nature to flinch away whenever someone tried to touch him there. A feeling of nervousness crawled through him and the closer Kyuhyun got to that spot, the more afraid he felt.

Kyuhyun loved the sweet fragrance of Sungmin’s skin, he loved delectable taste of his hyung, he loved everything about Sungmin. Kyuhyun could feel himself falling harder and deeper into the void called love and he didn’t care. He wanted it.

STOP.

The order came so violently from somewhere inside of him that Kyuhyun stopped. He rested on his elbow, panting slightly and trying to regain his breath. Sungmin stared at him, surprised. How did Kyuhyun know that he was sensitive there? His heart was still racing from the emotions running through him but his fear was gone.

“Kyu?” Sungmin whispered, his words trying to find their way out of his tight throat.

“Yes, Minnie-ah?” Kyuhyun murmured. He was still trying to understand what happened. Where had that order come from?

“How did you know that I was easily scared if someone touched that area on my face?” Sungmin answered, his large dark eyes searching. It clicked.

“I didn’t know until now. But I promised myself that I wouldn’t hurt you. Something just told me to stop so I did. I would never hurt you, Minnie,” Kyuhyun breathed. His hand was still entwined with Sungmin’s.

“Thank you. It means a lot to me that you are so considerate,” Sungmin replied, blushing slightly.

“You mean a lot to me,” Kyuhyun answered simply. Sungmin thought of those that meant a lot to him. Teukie-umma, Kangin-appa and the rest of his weird and wonderful ‘family’.

“What’s wrong?” Kyuhyun asked concernedly, looking at the slightly saddened expression on Sungmin’s face. He squeezed Sungmin’s hand slightly. Sungmin looked at him and smiled slightly.

“Nothing, just thinking about my friends. I wonder if they miss me at all.”

“They’re probably missing you a lot right now,” Kyuhyun brushed a few strands of hair out of Sungmin’s eyes. “They’re probably wondering what you’re doing at this time.”

“I hope so. Eeteuk would do that,” Sungmin sighed. He turned his head and caught sight of the wall clock. It read 12:47. “Kyu, look at the time.”

Kyuhyun swore under his breath, “Damnit. I don’t want to leave you, Minnie.”

“It’s okay. I want you to go to work. I don’t want you to get in trouble or get fired for being late.”

“Are you sure you’ll be okay?” Kyuhyun asked, not moving from his place. Sungmin smiled and sat up slightly to touch his lips to Kyuhyun’s.

“I’ll be fine. Hurry or you’ll be late,” Sungmin said, resting back on his elbows. Their hands were still together.

“Walk me to the door?” Kyuhyun asked. Sungmin nodded. The two of them got up and walked to the front hall. They still hadn’t let go of each other.

“I’ll be home at six, okay? Please be careful.”

“I will. I’ll miss you Kyu!” Sungmin smiled, feeling like his old self. He smiled up at Kyuhyun. The younger male kissed the top of his head.

“I’ll miss you too, Minnie.”

They finally let go of each other and Sungmin closed the door behind Kyuhyun. His hand felt cold. Sungmin longed for Kyuhyun already.

Kyuhyun stared into space. He was supposed to be helping Seungri stack cereal, a job for two people but so far it was only being done by one. Kyuhyun was worrying about Sungmin and hoping that his injuries weren’t bothering him too much.

“Kyuhyun…..Kyuhyun……KYUHYUN!”

The shout startled him out of his thoughts. He turned to Seungri who was waving his hand wildly.

“Yes?” Kyuhyun smiled weakly. Seungri grinned.

“Ah, he’s returned to earth! What on earth has got you so deep in thought? Well anyways, as I was saying, you’ve put the organic cereal where the sugar cereals are supposed to be. And why am I doing this all on my own?”

“Aish, I’m sorry. I got distracted,” Kyuhyun apologized. Seungri was about to reply when Daesung popped up.

“Good job, Kyuhyun! Make Seungri work. He needs to build up those muscles!” Daesung congratulated Kyuhyun while avoiding a hit from Seungri.

“Shut up! What did they say?”

“It’s all good. They want to go shopping first. You know why, fashion,” Daesung rolled his eyes.

“Yeah, I know. Is Jiyong still miffed that that girl got the fur coat before him?” Seungri asked, grinning.

“He is! Well, I only came to say that and I’d love to stay and chat with you but the jam won’t put itself away!”

Kyuhyun was startled out of his thoughts once again. Did he say…..Jiyong? How does Seungri know him? Kyuhyun waited until Daesung danced away before turning to the magnae of the store.

“Seungri, you know Jiyong?”

“Yeah, we’ve been friends since high school. You know Jiyong too?”

“We’ve met a couple of times. Can you do me a favour? Can you give me his number?” Kyuhyun asked urgently. He had had an idea to put a smile back on Sungmin’s face.

“Uh….he’s engaged you know,” Seungri sent a weird look in Kyuhyun’s direction.

“I don’t like him like that. He’s with Seunghyun. I know that. I want to ask him about something.”

“Oh, okay. Give me your cellphone. I’ll give you his private line. He always answers that one so your call will get through,” Seungri held out his hand. Kyuhyun passed him his phone and waited while Seungri punched the number in. He took the phone back and immediately began putting cereal boxes on the shelves in order to thank Seungri for his cooperation.

Jiyong hadn’t noticed anything weird about Jiwon in the past few days. He looked normal as ever and it unnerved him. He wanted to go up to Jiwon and punch him for hurting Sungmin, being a bastard, an asshole and whatever else he could think of at the moment.

He could tell Seunghyun wanted to fire the man but couldn’t because he was the only accountant who knew what he was doing and unfortunately, that meant he had to stay. He was about to open his mouth to complain about all this when his phone rang. He looked at it. It was his private line. He checked the caller ID.

“Kyuhyun?!” Out of the corner of his eyes, Jiyong could see Seunghyun sit up straight.

“Yeah, it’s me. Listen, I need you to do me a favour.”

“As long as it’s within my power.”

“You have contacts right? I need you to find a guy called Eeteuk. He’s one of Sungmin’s friends. I know it would make Sungmin happy again.”

“Sungmin’s friends? I know them. They came here looking for Jiwon.”

“Really? Why?”

“They wanted to know where Sungmin worked and they figured Jiwon would know. Kyuhyun, they don’t know that Sungmin was being abused. I only told you because I knew it would help him. How is Sungmin?” Jiyong saw Seunghyun look at him intently.

“He’s getting better. He was beaten up then kicked out by Jiwon. He’s living with me now.”

“Sungmin’s with you now? Good, he finally got out of that shithole.”

“I’m happy he’s here too. Could you call Sungmin’s friends for me? Tell them to come to my apartment building, 152 Songwoon Road. The code in is 1596807. Tell them to go to the eleventh floor, apartment number seven which is the last one on the hall to the right. Could you do that?”

“I’ll do that for you. What time do you want them there?

“Six fifteen at the earliest. It takes me ten minutes to walk home through a not so nice part of town and I want to prepare Sungmin.”

“Okay. Take care of him, Kyuhyun.”

“Will do. We’ll stop by your house sometime and visit with you. I want to make Sungmin as happy as possible.”

“We’d love to see you!” Jiyong squealed happily. “I know you’ll make Sungmin happy. I’ll call his friends for you.”

“I owe you, G-Dragon. Thanks so much. Say hello to Seunghyun for me. Bye.”

“Bye, Kyuhyun.”

Jiyong hung up the phone and turned to Seunghyun who was still gazing at him attentively. A smile broke out across his face and Seunghyun grinned too. Whenever Jiyong was happy, he was happy.

“Okay, what happened?” Seunghyun asked, curiosity getting the better of him.

“Sungmin’s living with Kyuhyun now,” Jiyong began.

“Why?”

“Jiwon beat him and then threw him out. I guess that’s why he didn’t come to the party. He was beat by Jiwon,” Jiyong’s face darkened.

“Well that explained why he was happy that night,” Seunghyun growled.

“Yeah. Well, Kyuhyun asked me to call Sungmin’s friends because he wants Sungmin to be happy again. Seeing his old friends would definitely do that. Kyuhyun’s so considerate of Sungmin. I’m glad I told him. He’ll save Sungmin. And they’re going to come visit us sometime. Oh, and he says hi to you,” Jiyong added as an afterthought. Seunghyun smiled.

“Well, I say hi back.”

“I’m so glad he left Jiwon. He’s finally free. TOP, he’s finally free,” Jiyong whispered happily. Seunghyun walked over to him and hugged his fiancé. He knew when Jiyong used his high school nickname, he was very emotional.

“You’re both free,” Seunghyung whispered. “And you helped Kyuhyun help him. You did good, my little dragon.”

“I want you to watch the people I just described. Do not harm them. Their only useful purpose to me is to lead me to Sungmin. They don’t need to be disposed of. They’ll never know. Besides, it will hurt them more to see Sungmin die. Are we clear?”

Twenty heads nodded.

“Yes boss.”

“Good. Gather all the information you can find. He’ll be mine again.”

Twenty people got into five cars and drove off into the night, away from the abandoned warehouse. The man inside smirked. The hunt had begun.

The phone rang. Eeteuk, who had been watching TV, went to answer it.

“Hello?”

“Yo, this is G-Dragon. Who is this? Did I dial the right number?”

“G-Dragon? Kwon Jiyong? The vice president of KP Productions?” Eeteuk gasped.

“Yes. Is this Yesung?”

“No, this is Eeteuk.”

“Oh, then I did get the right place. Well I’m calling on behalf of Cho Kyuhyun. He wants you to go to his apartment which is 152 Songwoon Road, the combination to get in is 1596807, level eleven and apartment number seven last on the hall.”

“Why?”

“Don’t ask questions, just do it. You won’t regret this, I swear. Bring everyone. And Eeteuk?”

“Hmm?”

“Don’t expect the same person.”

“What?”

“I have to go. Seunghyun wants to use the telephone to order pizza and he’s too lazy to go to his own. Have a nice time. Goodbye. Seunghyunnie, can’t you use your own….”

The dial tone sounded. Eeteuk stared at the phone in confusion. He had no idea what was going on. His umma senses tingled. He had to go to this apartment.

“Children, we’re going on a trip! Come on, hurry. We’ve got to get there now. Kangin, get the car keys.”

“What’s going on Teukie?” Kangin asked, getting the keys and ushering the three pairs and Kibum out the door.

“You’ll see. Right now we have to go,” Eeteuk grabbed the car keys and ran outside, Kangin following him. The drive was the most worrying drive that any of them had ever been on. Heechul kept asking loudly if Teukie-umma had gone off the deep end until Kangin told him to shut up. Hankyung looked worried, his eyebrows scrunched in thought. Ryeowook felt the tension in the air and stayed close to Yesung. Eunhyuk and Donghae were quiet for once and Eeteuk kept driving, his senses telling him that this was important.

They stopped outside a large apartment building. No one spoke, they all followed Eeteuk into the place and waited while he got them through. No one dared to say a word, not even Heechul as they climbed into the elevator and Eeteuk pressed the button that would take them towards the eleventh floor.

Kyuhyun had purposely made a mess of the dishes so he would have to clean them up. That would keep him occupied so that Sungmin could answer the door. He was on his second last dish and was wondering where Sungmin’s friends were. He had just finished drying the plate when the doorbell rang.

“Minnie, could you go see who that is?” Kyuhyun asked. “I’m just finishing washing this.”

“Sure,” Sungmin nodded and got up from his chair.

“Sungmin,” Kyuhyun called. Sungmin paused. “You don’t have to tell them anything you don’t want to.”

Sungmin raised an eyebrow at the weird sentence. He walked to the door and opened it. He stared, stunned at the people behind it.

“Teukie-umma?” Was all Sungmin could say before he was hugged by Eeteuk. Kyuhyun came out from the kitchen and smiled as there was a general pileup of people trying to hug Sungmin.

“Ryeowookie, still the eternal magnae? I’ve missed you so much! Eunhae! It’s so good to see you again! Kibummie, you’ve let your hair grow out. Yesung-hyung, congratulations on scoring with Ryeowookie! Still pretty as ever, Heechul-hyung! Hankyung, I’ve missed you and your rice! Kangin-appa, congratulations for your engagement to Teukie-umma!” Sungmin greeted the nine people. Kyuhyun smiled. Sungmin was looking happier than ever before. He led them all to the living room where they sprawled out on the sofas, mindful of the plants.

“This is Kyuhyun,” Sungmin introduced him, jumping up and taking hold of his arm. Kyuhyun bowed to the group.

“He’s good looking. I like him better. You caught a nice one, hyung. I’m Ryeowook, nice to meet you, Kyuhyun,” Ryeowook waved. Sungmin and Kyuhyun blushed.

“I’m Heechul and I’m prettier. This is my lover, Hankyung, second best looking,” Heechul introduced them both.

“Nice to meet you, Kyuhyun!” Hankyung waved.

“I’m Yesung. I’m super cool unlike those two. Nice to meet you!” Yesung waved both hands wildly.

“I’m Donghae, he’s Eunhyuk. Hi, Kyuhyun!”

“I’m Eunhyuk, he’s Donghae. Hello, Kyuhyun!”

Eunhae spoke at the same time. Kyuhyun smiled at their antics.

“I’m Kim Kibum. It’s great to know-”

“Say hello to Kangin, Korea’s number one guy!” Kangin did his wavy arm dance. The group laughed.

“I’m Eeteuk. I run this crazy group,” Eeteuk hugged Kyuhyun, not caring if they just met him.

Kyuhyun grinned. As the night progressed, Sungmin and his friends talked about old times and memories that they shared. Kyuhyun felt like bursting with happiness. His Sungmin was starting to look more and more healthy and alive as the night went on.

At some point, Kyuhyun was dragged into a deep discussion with Kibum about his flowers. He was only too happy to explain this. He understood why Sungmin wanted to see his friends again. They were such a happy, open group. He felt like he had known them for a long time.

“Can I talk to you?” Eeteuk tapped Kyuhyun on the shoulder. Kyuhyun nodded and followed Eeteuk a little ways away from the group.

“What is it, Eeteuk-hyung?”

“I wanted to thank you. We’ve been looking for Sungminnie for a long time and we’ve finally found him after three years,” Eeteuk looked emotional.

“You’re welcome. I wanted to make him happy and when he mentioned his friends and someone named ‘Eeteuk’, I knew how to make him happy.”

“He mentioned me?”

“You were the only name he brought up,” Kyuhyun informed Eeteuk. Before he knew it, he was being embraced by Eeteuk once more.

“Thank you for bringing back our family, Kyuhyun.”
